Central Virginia
Association of Paralegals

Welcome to the Central Virginia Association of Paralegals

Established in 1982, the Central Virginia Association of Paralegals fosters professionalism, continuing legal education, public service, and networking among paralegals, legal assistants, and other legal support professionals in the Greater Richmond region.

Our members enjoy a wealth of benefits, including networking opportunities, continuing legal education classes, a job bank, and affiliations with the National Association of Legal Assistants and the Virginia Alliance of Paralegal Associations.

We are deeply committed to community impact and encourage our members to volunteer with programs like Richmond Court Appointed Special Advocates and the Central Virginia Legal Aid Society. These activities provide valuable hands-on experience while connecting members with attorneys, court personnel, and community leaders.

Dedicated to supporting new paralegals, the Central Virginia Association of Paralegals also offers reduced-cost student memberships, mentoring activities, and a certified paralegal study group to help paralegal students and recent graduates transition into successful careers.

A moment from our past:

Our predecessor -- the Richmond Association of Legal Assistants -- held its first meeting at the Life of Virginia building in downtown Richmond during the summer of 1982. Forty years later, that building's facade was incorporated into the new Virginia General Assembly building..

The Central Virginia Association of Paralegals is a 501(c)6 non-profit organization. We are proudly affiliated with the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA) and the Virginia Alliance of Paralegal Associations.
